TIDAL WAVE invites you to flow like water and find your internal rhythm. Step into the circle and create bold, sweeping motions with your body to pull neon blue ocean waves to shore. Each digital wave rides up one of two curved backdrops facing the audience before crashing down in a shimmering display of light.

The interactive art installation features projection mapping, a Kinect for depth sensing, and custom code that translates movement into animation in real-time. Inspired by bioluminescent beaches and the art of waterbending, the experience creates a stage for self-expression and gifts participants the powers the artist always wanted as a kid.

About the artist: Ekemini Nkanta is an immersive artist from NYC making sensory experiences with light, sensors & code. Inspired by fantasy illustrations and hidden gems in nature, she brings playful, surreal concepts to life and tops them off with bursts of color. Her work is actively expanding into projections, interactive installations, and augmented reality experiments. She recently graduated from CUNY NYC College of Technology in 2022 with a Bachelors in Emerging Media Technology.
