About the piece: The SENSORIUM is our ode to the five ways we perceive the world—sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell—and to the quiet magic that unfolds when they overlap. It is a chill downtempo oasis, a space designed to help you step away from thought and sink fully into sensation. Thousands of LEDs move in hypnotic harmony, washing the tent in shifting patterns of color and light that pulse with the music. The effect is less about spectacle and more about surrender: a soft, enveloping invitation to notice, to feel, to let go.
At its core, The SENSORIUM is an experiment in presence. We live in a time where attention is fragmented, where our senses are pulled in a thousand directions at once. Here, we aim to reweave them together. The downtempo soundscape grounds the body, while flowing light art stimulates the eyes in waves of rhythm and symmetry. Subtle tactile elements—the texture of fabric, the softness of cushions, the warmth of bodies gathered together—remind us of our skin’s intelligence. Gentle prompts for taste and scent occasionally surface, encouraging deeper awareness of how interconnected the senses truly are.
This tent is not a performance to watch, but an atmosphere to enter. It is a sanctuary for stillness in the midst of chaos, a place where people can slow down, recalibrate, and explore how perception shapes emotion. We are less interested in dazzling the senses than in heightening them—illuminating the small, often overlooked ways they blend into one another to form the fabric of human experience.
The SENSORIUM is part light art installation, part communal retreat, and part dream. It belongs to everyone who steps inside and adds their own energy to the mix. Together, we create the living pulse of the space.
About the artist: Glimmer Labs is an interdisciplinary light and experiential design studio founded by Gisbel Videla, Nathan Carter, Matthew Myers, and Dean Galvin. United by a belief that light can spark both wonder and comfort, the team blends architecture, fabrication, software, and storytelling into immersive environments. Gisbel brings a decade of lighting design expertise shaped at Parsons; Nathan, a master fabricator and educator, ensures craft and precision; Dean programs responsive LED systems through TouchDesigner; and Matt merges building, play, and cultural entrepreneurship. Together they create installations like The SENSORIUM—a living oasis of light, sound, and human connection.
